Should We Try to Schedule a Stick & Puck Next Week?

Hi Everyone.  Since we don't have a game next week should we try and meet for a stick and puck?  Unfortunatley, during the week I'm only available on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday nights.

Andrew Neuforth - Thu, Jan 14 2016

i know that most of the group from columbus is coming on monday because a friend

needs to skate before he has surgery and we are dragging him out with another friend

so we should have 5-6 of us there plus whoever shows up. A few of us(me, yoder,

krebs, and chad i think) are also going to a clinic in newark on sunday as long as

they have it this week if anyone cares to join us. They send out an email sometime

later in the week. I will post here if i get the email.

Christopher Caldwell
I won't be able to make Mondays stick and puck. I have a meeting in Dayton that evening. I may go to the drop in Wednesday night. John Crankshaw

Stick and Puck

I called ahead to reserve my spot a little over an hour before and they were already full.. I guess I'll see you guys tomorrow

Corey Schmidt - Mon, Jan 11 2016

How did the stick and puck go for those who made it?

Andrew Neuforth
Went well. Crowded though and no goalies John Crankshaw

BTW for those who were unable to make it, you can sign up online in the morning and reserve your spot. The columbus group did it at like 9 in the morning and there were still 14 spots then

Christopher Caldwell

Hockey is Upon Us!

I look forward to meeting you guys tomorrow. Here's to a great season!

Jaret Hill - Sun, Jan 10 2016

Can't wait to meet everyone!

Amy Wilkins

Bombers

Hi, My name is Corey Schmidt and I'm 22 years old. I will be at the stick and puck on the 11th. I'm the short ginger so I'm pretty easy to spot. Haha I was told to introduce my self so there it is. Looking forward to meeting all of you. Also, I have a black jersey already from the team I previously played on in Columbus.

Corey Schmidt - Fri, Jan 8 2016

Monday the 11th

Okay guys. Looks like Monday the 11th works for quite a few people and it will be a good opportunity to meet everyone. It is from 9-10 and we should sign up the morning of. This is the link https://www.ntprdchiller.com/ice_time.cfm?EventType=ASP so lets try to make sure we have spots. I think the easiest concensus for now is to go with black jerseys at first. I am a fan of the red but we can decide that on the 11th or shortly after. I did email Martin and he said he was ok with taped numbers for the first week but after that we should decide on a color so we can get something more permanent. Let me know if anyone has any questions and cant wait to get out there! Go Bombers or Reapers if you prefer :)

Christopher Caldwell - Thu, Jan 7 2016

On another note, if anyone didnt realize, we play on the 12th against express so make sure to have everything ready by then! I am going to stop by hockey stop tommorow with Chad and Krebs to pick up some of their gear. I will be grabbing some white tape while i am there. Let me know if anyone needs anything.

Christopher Caldwell
Ok. Sounds fine. Probably should pick numbers. You can do it on this site. Click stats and then the number next to your name. I've already chosen 14 but if someone else has their heart set on that number I'll change. John Crankshaw

I can't make it to the stick & puck on Monday, but I'll throw my vote in for red as the jersey color.

Andrew Neuforth

I went ahead and stopped by hockey world and got a black jersey with my number on it. I'm cool with whatever we decide but wanted to be ready with black for now.

Ryan Gray

The only concern we had with black jerseys is that one of the other teams is blue. If the color's are too close the home team can make the other team change jerseys. I did get a black one but red or another color might be better.

Amy Wilkins

Yeah a lot of people are saying red and i have the same concern as Amy that black may be too close to the blue. We will work it out on Monday.

Christopher Caldwell

New team, new season!

Hello everyone,

My name is Jaret Hill, and I'll be your goalie. I'm excited to play with all of you, but I'd love to meet with you all before hand to get to know each other and build some chemisty; along with discussing our team name and our jerseys. We'll be playing against people who have played with each other in the past, so I think it would really be helpful if we could maybe meet at a stick and puck at the chiller. Either on 1/6/16 at 9:00 PM-10:30 PM, 1/10/16 at 7:45 PM- 9:15 PM, or on 1/11/16 at 9:00 PM-10:00 PM. Please feel free to email me! (wtfman8989@gmail.com) I look forward to playing with all of you!

Jaret Hill - Sun, Jan 3 2016

Hey Jaret et al,

This is my second year playing hockey. I think meeting at S&P is a great idea. I cannot make it 1/6, I can make it 1/10 and would prefer 1/11.

Mark Thornton (linziyou@gmail.com)

Mark Thornton

1/10/16 would work for me

John Crankshaw

1/11/16 would also work better for me. Any and all are more than welcomed. I shall be the giant in Bauer pads

Jaret Hill

Are people meeting for a stick and puck? I might be able to make the 1/11. I didn't see the 1/10 time slot. Email or text gooniekorn@yahoo.com or 614-570-9930.

Amy Wilkins

Amy Wilkins

I can make the 1/11 stick and puck.  Any thoughts yet on team color?

John Crankshaw

If i'm not mistaken, Chris said that we was going to send out a group email. The team colors so be discussed before we meet so that way we have longer than just a day to get the jerseys. If custom jerseys is something that you guys might want to do, I have a couple people who would be able to do that. Tron hockey as a deal where you get a game jersey, practice jersey and socks for like 58 dollars

Jaret Hill

I think, until we all decide we're going to play together for awhile, we should just pick a color that the other teams aren't wearing and go with that. I know I personally own a rainbow of jerseys after many years of playing and I don't really want to add to it if we don't all stay together. If we decide to stay together for a few sessions, then maybe we can look into something a step up. Until then, I can find us decent practice jerseys with numbers if you want. I think the Express is wearing white, but I don't know about the Flyers. We could pick something like orange that not many people have. Black is good, but it can look similar to the other team if they have navy. It's always a good idea to have a white jersey in your bag too. Anyone have any suggestions on a team name?

Joe Wilkins

I agree with Joe.  I would go with just a practice jersey for now.  Orange or Red or Green are probably good options.  The other two teams wear white and blue.  Haven't seen an email yet from Chris.

John Crankshaw

at the time, I only have a black jersey

Jaret Hill

Hey guys my names Chris. Sorry for the delay as work has been a bit crazy. This seems to be a good way of communicating for now so lets stick with it. I will send out an email to the list from Martin's original email to make sure everyone is aware of this being a central communication spot.. First off I want to say im excited to play again. I am still a beginner as i have only played for one session in newark but I look forward to joining you guys. I do know 4 other people on the team from work and i will have them hop on here to introduce themselves. 2 of the 4 have much more experience then I do so this should be interesting. As far as the color goes, we can get others opinion but most probably have black already. We can discuss it here. I think that a stick and puck on the 11th is a great idea. I know me and Chad(one of the people I know already) can make that one but 2 of the people that are with us are in Newark i believe for a game already that night. I still think we should do that. Let me know what everyone else think!

Christopher Caldwell

I've been playing in adult leagues for 15+ years. The old knees aren't in great shape though. I've worked at rinks, sold equipment, coached and done all kinds of stuff along the way. But don't let all that fool you, I'm not very good. But I still have connections at the Hockey Stop in Columbus if we want to get some jerseys numbered up. Should be in the $15-18 range. Just let me know.

I can play defense if needed, but I prefer to play center on a line with Amy, my wife, if possible. If we ever need a fill in in goal, my dad also plays. But it has been a few years since he last played and he would be a little rusty. If there's anything I can do to help the team, let me know. wilkins63@gmail.com

Joe Wilkins

Thats awesome Joe. Maybe you can give some pointers to the more inexperienced. I am sure it would be appreciated. What arae your thoughts on the 1/11 stick and puck?

Christopher Caldwell

Stick and pucks are always good for working on skills. Much better than Drop In. I'm trying to see if I can get off work that night to make it. If we can get everyone to commit to splitting the cost, renting the ice for an hour could be an option as well. They usually have a decent rate for Adult League teams. I would think especially in Springfield.

Joe Wilkins

Hey guys I'm Ryan, I played roller hockey growing up and have played ice now for 5-6 sessions. It's a little different so still getting used to things. I like to play up, either wing is good, but I'm alright dropping back if needed. I'm good for Monday night stick and puck, is it full pad now?

Ryan Gray

Hey all,

I'm Jon Krebs, one of the coworkers chris had mentioned, and I've never actually played ice hockey and haven't done roller hockey in many years. I would definitely be interested in the stick and puck the 11th so I can try and get some basics down. I have skated before so I won't be completely out of place but I'm hoping to definitely progress all session and see how much I can learn. Looking forward to meeting everyone

Jon Krebs

Ryan i believe that it is full pads for the stick and puck.

Christopher Caldwell

Ahhh well sucky. Is what it is I suppose.

Ryan Gray

Hi, I've played for a couple years now. I was taught by my husband Joe Wilkins, so I'm pretty bad. Ha. I haven't been on the ice since May so I'm not sure what to expect. I will be able to make the S&P on the 11th. We should decide on jerseys soon so we have them done before Tues in case someone doesn't have that color. I also own a rainbow of jerseys but I don't have black! Joe didn't mention this but he has a great name for our team. Champion City Reapers. Any thoughts?

Amy Wilkins

Hello. My name is Chad Glaser. I'm another co-worker of Chris. I've played roller hockey for the past 10 years. This will be my first time playing ice. I prefer defense. I'm interested in going to stick & puck on the 11th assuming I have gear by then. Looking forward to playing with you all.

Chad Glaser

My name is Andy Neuforth. I've played in a beginner/intermediate league for about 3.5 years. I prefer to play defense as long as there are at least two lines of defenders, though I won't shrug off the chance to play as a winger. My problem as a winger is that I'm a piss poor shot, but I can get the occasional goal by following another forward to the net and picking up a rebound.  I'm not so concerned about what color the team jerseys are. I currently only own black and white jerseys, but that's obviously just a short term problem.

I can't make the stick and puck on Monday the 11th, but I can make it on Sunday the 10th.

Andrew Neuforth
Hi, I started playing again a year and half ago after about a 15 year hiatus when I played some intramural ice hockey at OSU. I have one season of adult league hockey under my belt which was last winter, and lots of drop in's. I was on the now defunct Blues with Joe, Amy, and Mark in the Sunday league here in Springfield before they split out to the B/C and D/E leagues. Don't let my awesome (sarcasm) stats from that season fool you (1 goal and 5 assists), I was on a line with a B/C center. I like to play forward, mostly wing but will play center if needed, because skating backwards isn't the best. I have a black jersey, but we should pick soon so we can get numbers on them by Tuesday. I can make the Monday stick and puck or Sunday stick and puck. Whichever we choose which looks like Monday I'd suggest that day registering online to reserve spots. Not sure if any other teams will be trying the same thing. John John Crankshaw

I look forward to meeting you guys

Jaret Hill

Using tape to 'write' a number on a jersey might be a good short term solution until the jersey situation is settled.

Andrew Neuforth

So we're agreed on Monday? Awesome! I'd really like some time to work with our defense if that's possible. I also have quite a bit of info about the other teams, they're better players, they're weaknesses and other things like that too so we're not walking in blind. First up is the Springfield Express, a team with many close friends so it should give us an advantage

Jaret Hill

I don't know about Springfield, but they don't allow taped on numbers in Columbus.

Joe Wilkins
